Perfect integration between your BMW and your Garmin device
With this adapter, you can mount the Garmin Zumo XT2/XT3 or Garmin Tread 2* onto the BMW Navigator mount. Thanks to the Multi-controller, also known as the “Wonder Wheel”, you can easily operate your Garmin directly from the handlebars.
With a simple turn of the wheel, you can zoom in and out and even assign extra functions to the button for an enhanced riding experience.
How does it work?
The adapter connects to the original BMW Navigator mount. This gives your Garmin device both power and the handlebar control signal from the Wonder Wheel.
The Garmin thinks a Garmin handlebar remote is connected.
The BMW thinks a BMW Navigator is connected.
The adapter acts as the bridge between these two systems.
Result: seamless control of your Garmin through the BMW Wonder Wheel.
Function translation
As mentioned, we ‘translate’ the Wonder Wheel signal into the signal used by the Garmin handlebar remote. The image shows the Garmin remote next to the BMW handlebar. This remote has four buttons: Plus (+), Minus (–), Triangle, and Circle.
In the Zumo XT2 menu, you can assign specific functions to these buttons. The plus and minus buttons are often used for zooming, which disables the long-press function on those buttons. The triangle and circle buttons can be assigned two functions: one for a short press and one for a long press.
Our adapter translates the input as follows:
Turn up: Plus button on the handlebar remote
Turn down: Minus button on the handlebar remote
Press wheel inward (right): Triangle button
Press wheel outward (left): Circle button
Long-press on the triangle or circle also works for the second programmed function
With or without lock adapter?
Most BMW motorcycles come with a pre-installed mount that can be locked and unlocked using your motorcycle key. By ordering the lock adapter, you can also lock the Zumo XT2 or Tread 2 with the same key.
