New - Tracks 4 Africa GPS Maps - Traveller’s Africa 9.05
The new Tracks4Africa maps was released today. This version will be called T4A GPS Maps - Traveller’s Africa 9.05.The T4A GPS Maps are now the first and only GPS map that allows you to navigate from Cape to Cairo with all roads in-between now being routable. In past years Tracks4Africa produced three T4A GPS Maps CDs per year but as from 2009 we are only releasing two – the first release will be in mid-May (this will assist travelers for the busy June/July holidays and the shorter break in September) and the second release will be in mid-October (this will assist travelers for the year-end holidays and the Easter holidays the following year). This means that the CDs will have a much longer retail shelf life, with fewer concerns about when new versions come out and less need to swap old stock for the new version as frequently as with past releases.
What is new on the version 9.05 CD
• Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West Provinces are now routable (Gauteng’s urban areas are not routable though, but all major routes are routable allowing you to route from Sandton to Savuti). • Nature Reserves of South Africa, Kenya and Swaziland have been revised and T4A GPS Maps now have the most comprehensive nature reserve coverage of all maps. • The maps are compiled with the latest formats to be compatible with newer Garmin units as well as an improved display on mobile phones running Garmin Mobile XT software. • More than 72 000 Points of Interest (POI) and 544 995km of roads. • Apple Mac files are included. The CD is compatible with both PC and Mac. Load it to a Mac and the Mac files will be available to be copied and installed on Mac computers. • Sample tour guides included: compatible with GPS units that can accept custom POI files as well as play MP3s. • T4A POI Alerts included: these are custom POI files which will warn you when road hazards and information points are approaching, e.g. a Cattle Grid, Gate, Gravel Road etc. Compatible with GPS units that can accept Custom POI files. Below you will find updated information about each of the 14 maps contained on the T4A CD. There was a 13% increase in POI and 6% increase in roads from version 8.10 to 9.05.
